With a neutral pH, these clay pebbles are fungus-free, rot-resistant, and absorb moisture when soaked, helping maintain balanced hydration while still providing superior aeration.

After rinsing, soak the pebbles for 6–8 hours so their micro-pores become fully saturated. Pre-soaking ensures the pebbles hold moisture effectively, allowing plant roots to access water more easily. Avoid letting the pebbles dry out completely once in use.

Using Hydro Clay Pebbles as Indoor Plant Mulch

Hydro Clay Pebbles can be spread across the top of potting soil as a decorative and functional surface layer. This inorganic mulch helps reduce the risk of indoor pests such as fungus gnats while also improving moisture retention.

Improve Drainage in Pots

For best results, add a 4cm layer of pebbles to the bottom of your pot before adding potting mix. This creates a highly aerated base that promotes extremely fast drainage and supports unrestricted root growth.

Alternatively, mix Hydro Clay Pebbles directly into your potting soil at a ratio of 1 part pebbles to 5 parts potting mix when planting. This improves airflow throughout the root zone and reduces the risk of waterlogging.

• Develop strong root systems quickly
