On the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island, water flows from the stunning Southern Alps, nourishing the natural habitat of Sphagnum moss. From this pristine environment, we harvest Sphagnum cristatum and Sphagnum subnitens to create Spagmoss.

In the orchid growing industry, it is renowned for its long, strong strands, durability in pots, and excellent water-holding capacity—all of which encourage robust and healthy root development. Besgrow Spagmoss has naturally low concentrations of soluble salts, is relatively sterile, and has a structure that allows it to hold up to 20 times its weight in water. These qualities make it ideal for growing ornamental flowers and providing moisture retention.
The inherent beneficial properties of New Zealand Sphagnum are further enhanced by our exceptional production processes. The labor-intensive process starts with hand-picking the moss from swamps dedicated to Sphagnum farming. After extraction, the moss is airlifted by helicopter and transported to where the second phase of processing begins.

Throughout production, Sphagnum moss is monitored to ensure it meets our stringent quality standards. Besgrow Spagmoss is naturally air-dried to preserve its optimal quality. The moss undergoes a series of cleaning techniques, both mechanical and manual, to remove any contamination. The cleaned moss is then packed into various sizes and shipped worldwide.
