Orchiata orchid bark is a very HIGH QUALITY substrate made using 100% New Zealand Pinus radiata bark. The bark is collected using sustainable best practice methods from renewable, manmade forests ensuring availability well into the future. Whilst ageing the bark, beneficial micro-organisms are active and any pathogens are taken out.
Orchiata bark is graded to give a uniform and very consistent result that is famous across the world for its durability and longevity.
The unique structure of Orchiata orchid bark gives excellent drainage and aeration for orchid roots, helping to prevent root rot and other issues. With a pH of around 5.5-6.5, the 9-12mm Orchiata orchid bark is ideal for most mature orchids or any orchid that needs a greater AFP. It can be used in a variety of growing conditions, making it a fantastic product for orchid growers.

What to do if I see Fungi on ORCHIATA
Micro-organisms are an important part of Orchiata and fungi species are regularly isolated from these products. These fungi are generally saprophytic fungi which live off of decaying organic matter, and as Orchiata is created using a natural aging process caused by microbial degradation these organisms will always occur in this growing media. The majority of the time, fungi are not really visible. However when conditions are right for one or more species to grow, mycelia becomes more visible. It does not tend to cause plant disease but instead helps to protect plant roots and stems from pathogen attack.
